“Strong is my last name and I’ll be damned if I don’t live by it. Period.”  These are the words of Amir Strong, fashion model and music producer. To say that Amir is talented is an understatement. Creativity and confidence flows through him with ease. Amir is a regal leader who is undoubtedly making a name for himself in the fashion industry.

Amir was given his first opportunity to walk the runway for a local designer while he was in high school. “I took that experience with me to college and used it to network with fashion-minded students eager to build their brand. I volunteered to wear their designs, in turn, I received top quality photoshoots which boosted my popularity on social media. One of my biggest opportunities came when I walked for Miguel Wilson sporting his formal collection of men’s formal wear,” Amir stated.

When asked to describe his personal style, Amir likes a laid-back business casual look with a flare. This means that you could catch him in a buttoned down polo, chinos, vans and sometimes a ‘dad hat’ (if he doesn’t feel like twisting his hair).  “I wear clothes that fit my slender athletic frame, I don’t like sagging my pants or baggy shirts draped over me. I’m very detailed oriented so you’re likely to spot me wearing a watch, ring or piercing in my ear,” says Amir.

When Amir is not modeling, he enjoys songwriting and producing music with his group: Abstract Deviance (AD). This group is a creative collective of musicians and artists whose work spans a wide variety of genres. “I want to be a positive change that can reconstruct the world as we know it,” said Amir, “When listening to “certain” artists it’s difficult to relate to their music, so initially I decided to make music for myself and the love of the art.”

Amir is strong in both mind and body. He understands of importance maintaining physical health and expanding intellectually. “My health is vital to me so I spend a great deal of time at the gym. When I’m not recording or working out, I’m reading books. As a college graduate, I cannot stress enough that our education does not stop with our degree,” Amir stated.

Everyone has the same 24 hours, you choose how you want to spend them.” These are words of wisdom from Trevon Stewart, former defensive back for University of Houston Football and current CEO of JackBoyz Apparel. It is obvious that Trevon has optimized his time extremely well. After completing his collegiate career, he immediately traded in the jersey and cleats for the responsibilities of entrepreneurship.

TStewart (1)

JackBoyz Apparel was created during Trevon’s time as a student-athlete. In 2013, the U of H defense lead the nation in takeaways. “We felt we could take whatever we wanted,” Trevon declared. And that, they did. Confidently, the guys started to refer to themselves as the JackBoyz. It did not take long for the name to catch on. They consistently delivered what they promised. As the JackBoyz gained momentum, the group decided to create shirts for themselves to show their solidarity. The design quickly caught the attention of students and fans. As demand for the shirts quickly increased, Trevon recognized the entrepreneurial opportunity.

TStewart (27)

“Being a college athlete prepared me for the business world,” Trevon shared. He learned how to remain motivated and disciplined. He also learned the importance of time management and work-life balance. “There is always going to be speed bumps,” Trevon stated, “but as an entrepreneur, you have to know how to work through all adversity.” Trevon pushed through entrepreneurial challenges because he believed in himself and the potential of the JackBoyz clothing company.

Trevon is no stranger to hard work. Ever since the age of 5, his father would have him go outside at 6 in the morning to do drills for whatever sport he played at the time. At an early age, Trevon developed the skills needed to be leader and businessman.

TStewart (30)

JackBoyz Apparel is just the beginning. Trevon hopes to eventually start a real estate company and explore his artistic talents as rapper. It takes tremendous focus and mental strength to be this ambitious. This is why Trevon always finds quiet time to clear his mind and he frequently reads the Bible to gain wisdom and understanding.

TStewart (16)

The future is bright for Trevon Stewart. Not only is he making big business moves, but he is making big moves in his personal life as he is soon to be married!  Best wishes to the happy couple!

Be sure to follow Trevon on Twitter @JackBoyzApparel and Instagram @JackBoyzGlobal. Get your JackBoyz appearel @ www. jackboyzapparel.com.

Meet Jeremy Niederheiser of H-Town. A social media pro and Shawn Mendes aficionado who says that The Hangover is the best movie title that describes his life. Jeremy spends his free time planning vacations he can’t afford, bar hopping in Midtown, and watching foreign films to make his roommates think that he knows different languages. Obviously, Jeremy is intriguing. Read more to understand what makes him so awesome!

RMS: What’s your favorite piece of clothing you own / owned?
JN: It’s gotta be my black Guess coat. I remember when I bought it. I was still living with my parents and finally started making a little bit of money on my own. This coat was one of my first “Treat yo’ self” purchases after college.

RMS: How do you describe your personal style?
JN: I feel like I dress very basic. Solid button downs with skinny jeans. I aim for looking nice, but not standing out too much.

wbjn38

RMS: What are you most likely to become famous for?
JN: Probably some dumb viral video that everyone will get tired of hearing about within a week. I’m always catching something funny on my Snapchat.

RMS: What job would you be terrible at?
JN: Anything dealing with phone calls or having to think things up on the spot in front of important people. Right now, my job is in social media and I love it because I’m given at least a little time to really think about what I want to say. I’m definitely one of those people who thinks of the perfect thing to say in an argument like 5 minutes after it’s over with.

RMS: What skill would you like to master?
JN: Piano. I want to be that guy in the airport or mall that just walks up to a piano, plays something really good for a few minutes, and looks up to see a big crowd gathered with a roaring applause.

jn4

RMS: What would be your ideal way to spend the weekend?
JN: A concert, or better yet, a music festival with a lineup of artists I love and drinks that aren’t like $15 each.

RMS: What is the best advice you ever received?
JN: “Believe in your flyness, conquer your shyness.” Thanks, Kanye.

RMS: What is something most people don’t know about you?
JN: I actually have no clue what I’m doing most of the time. Fake it ’til you make it pro.

jn41

RMS: Who inspires you to be better?
JN: All of the successful people who are younger than me. Like y’all are awesome.  Let me know how I can do it too.

RMS: What are you most looking forward to in 2017?
JN: Definitely traveling to new places and experiencing new things. I just got my very first passport in the mail last week and I’m so excited to fill it up with different stamps. I’ve been following a few travel bloggers on social media for years, so I’m pumped to finally stop living a fun life through a tiny bright screen and see these places in person.

Be sure to follow Jeremy on Twitter and IG @JeremyKwae. You will be thoroughly entertained.

Brandon Harper is an author and relationship expert from Houston, TX. Besides being a talented writer, Brandon enjoys spending time with his family, watching basketball and attending concerts. His book, From the Outside Looking In, explores the vicissitudes of modern day relationships. See what Brandon had to say about his past experiences and how he uses them to help others.

RMS: Tell us about your book From the Outside Looking In. What was your motivation for writing it?
BH: From the Outside Looking In was a very personal project.  I wrote the book based on how I was feeling at a certain point and time in my life. I was dealing with some things and I just decided to pour my emotions on to paper and that’s how the book was created. Experiences were my motivation.

RMS: In what way does your past experiences enable you to help others?
BH: The lessons I’ve learned from previous relationships caused me a lot of pain.  I want to use my experiences to show others how to avoid the same heartache.

RMS: What is the best advice you can give to someone starting a new relationship?
BH: Don’t be so quick to put your all into it at the very beginning. Take your time to fully learn about the other person.

dsc_0104

Photography by Robyn Alright

RMS: Name some top qualities that everyone should look for in a potential mate.
BH: Look for someone that you have things in common with. Trust is everything. You must be able to trust someone that you are in a relationship with. Another quality is attractiveness, both mentally and physically.

RMS: What would you say is the biggest misconception about relationships?
BH: That they are supposed to be perfect with no problems at all.

RMS: What’s next for you? Are you working on another book or do you have any upcoming projects?
BH: Yes, I do. I have two new books coming in 2017. The first being a self-help guide for women titled Girls Like Bad Boys, Women Like Grown Men . The second is a fictional urban drama that picks up from where my first book left off titled Caught Up Wife.

We are excited about Brandon’s future as an author. Be sure to follow him on Twitter @DiaryHarper and Facebook @ThePersonalConversation.
